"See more clearly when you are informed"
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is defined as machines or computer systems simulating human intelligence. Despite how quickly AI has become commonplace in everyday life, it can still be difficult to understand what these systems do. Below you will find key terms, statistics, and other useful tools to understand and talk about artificial intelligence. If you would like to know more, consider coming to an IYC event. Our next one can be found below in the section labeled Our Events. We host them virtually, on a wide range of topics, discussing policy, civics, and current events.
Key Terms You Should Know
Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Machines or computer systems simulating human intelligence.
Deepfakes:
Harmful, ill-intended, or humorous forged images, videos, or cyber security threats.
Deep Learning:
The ability if AI to learn from unstructured data without supervision rather than only algorithms; mirroring how humans structure & process information.
Hallucinations:
The fabrications of AI that are based on patterns or objects that do not exist or that are imperceptible to humans.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI):
AI capable of producing images, video, text, etc. such as MidJourney, Pika, ChatGPT.
